GENERAL

What are the key differences between different models?

We wanted to get straight to the point and have some fun with the names of our bikes.

  • Sun&Fun As the name implies, something you use more for recreation and not intend to use regularly for commuting, as such you probably won’t ride it at night, so we leave out the Dual LED Projection Headlights to bring the cost down.

It comes standard with a European legal 250w rated motor (outside of Europe – optional upgrade to 500w motor for US and Canada is available).  As well as a 500WH battery.

Sun&Fun has 7 speed Shimano gear as well as a Speed Sensor for its PAS instead of a Torque Sensor.

It also has our signature stylish good looking Unibody-Rack, folding frame and Road Safety features such as turn signals and brake lights.

  • 24/7 As the name implies, you can ride it all day long.  Our Dual LED Projection Headlights with daytime running halo light will make sure you can see and be seen on the road.
  • We think this will be more like your combo play toy/work horse so we also give it a bigger battery, 620WH, enough for those long commute. And bigger motors to hang with fast surface road traffic.
  • Motor : Standard 500w.
  • 24/7 comes standard with Speed Sensor, that can be upgraded to Torque Sensors for the PAS system for that extra smooth pedal assist.

  • O2 NEW* 1000w Re-gen Motor. With a 1000w rear hub drive re-gen motor.  This bike rides like a dream.  It comes with an advance controller and battery system that helps recharges the battery when you brake.  This is every time you stop at a stop light or going down steep grades
  • The Re-gen motor not only lets you recharge you battery when you brake, it actually acts as a brake when it recharges, without actually engaging the brake
  • The O2 also comes with torque sensor, hydraulic disc brakes and the option of connectivity via BT.

  • Rapt 2 Would be for the enthusiasts who demand the bestest and baddest.  We have the largest mid-drive motor on the market, built for us by Bafang, a trusted name in ebike circle.  We improved on these new 2nd generation Ultra motors with ALL metal internal gears, and they are as quiet and as reliable as they come.
  • RAPT 2 comes with Torque Sensors

How do I choose between Rear Hub Drive and Mid-Drive?

A rear hub drive is way simpler in terms of operating and maintainence.  In a way you might think of it as an automatic gear shift vs a manual gear shift.  With a rear hub drive, you don’t have to worry about what gear you are in when you start up your bike or anything, you just pedal or throttle away and off you go.

A mid-drive motor utilizes the gears in the rear derailleur of the bike to translate the power of the motor into more torque or speed just like the gear-shifts on a car.  Extending the power curve of the motor.  Allowing the Rapt 2 to climb up steeper hills.

With a mid-drive if your are not constantly aware of what gear you’re in you might start up the bike in the wrong gear and get a surprise.  Most people are more comfortable with an automatic shift while some enthusiasts might prefer a manual shift.  That’s why our Rapt 2 comes with a 1000w mid-drive, meaning you can run it ALL day long at 1000w without burning up the motor, not just at a peak power mode for 5-10 sec.  Peak power in the case of our 1000w motor could run into the 1250-1500w territory.

We figure anyone who are that serious into their bike would demand a little more power.  In fact the Rapt 2 could be too powerful for casual riders who are not used to the power of a1000w motor.  But imagine you’re in San Francisco.  Or Colorado.

Does the bike have re-gen capability?

As far as we know MOAR is the first and only bike brand offering a market leading compact 1000w Internal-Geared Re-Gen Motor.  This is only available on our O2 line.

This re-gen capability is similar to what you have on a Tesla or some other more advance electric cars.

Incidentally when you opt for the O2 option, the re-gen motor also allows us to offer ebrake on the rear wheel.  Using the motor as a braking system to conserve your brake pad and allowing for a more responsive and positive rear braking experience.

This re-gen feature will be most appreciated if you ride in a hilly area with a lot of energy sapping uphill climbs and brake pad eating downhill runs.

Can I get Blue Tooth and GPS on my MOAR bike?

For the first time we are offering IOT capability as an option on MOAR bikes.  All MOAR bikes with the IOT option will have blue tooth capability so they can use their smart phone as the LCD as well as for routing and navigation.

This will be offered as a stretch goal upgrade option once we hit a certain milestone on our campaign.

What is so unique about the Dual LED Projection Headlights?

We believe we re the only bike manufacturer with this feature.  If you have been using LED headlights you probably noticed they are quite bright, but most of them being flood lights they just don’t deliver the punch for longer throw.  And if you were to try and tilt them up to light up the road farther ahead, be prepared to get a citation from the cops.  They’ll blind on-coming traffic more than lighting up that road.  Our Dual LED Projection Headlights are everything that they are not.

  • We use LED to ensure light output and longevity.  Our LED is rated for over 1000lm and over 30000 hours of service life.  You have to see it to believe it, you can actually see the light from our headlights under direct sunlight.
  • All these power will be wasted if you cannot put them where you need them. We put a beam projector lens over the LED so you can cast the light up to 30’ ahead of you without blinding on-coming traffic and still make a difference.
  • Halo Daytime Running Lights. These just look cool.  Now Audis and BMWs have nothing over you.  Plus these lights also have what we call angel eyes that cast a glow on the rider at night, so drivers or other traffic can see you as a human being riding a bike, even on lightless streets.

Why do you have the rear rack as part of the frame, not as add on?

A bike without a rear rack is just half a bike, only good for weekend outings.  In order to make our bike truly functional all around on a day to day basis, for groceries, backpack, briefcase, cartons of milk etc.  We decided early on that a rear rack is a must have.  Plus two other factors:

  • The after market rear rack all look like after thoughts.
  • There’s no aftermarket rear rack for a fat bike with rear-suspension anywhere, period

So we designed our own, a Unibody_Rack that’s part of the frame, not an add-on, and it is solid as a rock.  This is the only rear rack we know of for a fat bike with a rear suspension.  It’s a lot of work but it works and it looks beautiful on our bike, giving a nice flow to the body like no other bike.

For frequent grocery shoppings, we also have an optional Quick Release Rack Mount that mounts on top of our in-frame rear rack.  When paired with our grocery-bag size waterproof pannier bags it make for the perfect way to do your grocery run.

Will the production bikes be exactly like the ones pictured?

We reserve the rights to make modifications in the interest of delivering a better product to you.

Since our first launch we have made numerous tweaks and refinement to the frame.   E.g. We are seeing backers who like to ride MOAR bike on trails even though MOAR bikes are not mountain bike.  So we are beefing up the already sturdy frame, especially the rear suspensions triangle swing arms, dropouts etc.

Plus we redesigned the head tube for better cable management.

We are continuously making improvement to the bike as we move towards production, so the bike you received might be slightly different but only better.

What range can you get from the battery?

We have 3 range of battery with our bike.  They are all 48V to give you more efficiency and the max. power you need when you want it.

  • 10AH-(500WH) battery will take you around *30 miles on one charge of battery power alone. If you use the pedal assist you can in effect stretch the range to almost 50 miles.
  • 13AH (620WH) battery will take you 40 miles on battery alone and 65 miles respectively
  • 17AH (800WH) battery can take you almost 50 miles on battery alone and 85 miles with PAS.

*Based on 170lb rider on flat pave road @a constant <15mph speed.  These are rough figures so you actual mileage will vary, of course.

Can I upgrade to a 17A battery?

Yes, the batteries work on all the frames, so you can easily swap them as you like.  A bigger battery will obviously extend your range.

What other colors do you have?

We have Raw Silver, Space Black and Lagoon (a turquoise) for now. We hope to incorporate a stretch goal for more colors.

Am I too big or short to ride the bike?

The seat height is engineered to be 33” high at its lowest setting, and it’s adjustable, so it fits riders from 5’2” to 6’4”.  And the frame is rated for a 275lb rider.

Is there a warranty?

We reserve the rights to make modifications in the interest of delivering a better product to you.

We use only quality components on our bikes to ensure our bikes last a long time.  We do offer a One (1)  Year Limited Warranty on all our new bikes.   And a 3 year warranty on our frames.

We guarantee you receive your MOAR ebikes free of manufacturing defects. If unfortunately a part breaks because of defects within the first year, we will ship a free replacement parts to you. Note this does not apply to rider incurred damages or normal wear and tear.

Where can my bikes be serviced?

We reserve the rights to make modifications in the interest of delivering a better product to you.

Besides our innovations, MOAR bikes have a lot in common with any other bikes and ebikes.  If it’s an electrical problem your best bet is to go to an ebike shop.  If it’s any bike bits, like the derailleur or disc brakes that needs to be adjusted or tune-up then it’s even easier, any bike shop can do it.

TECHNICAL

How much do they weigh?

We reserve the rights to make modifications in the interest of delivering a better product to you.

When we think of the weight of an ebike there are a lot of factors to take into considerations.  We built our bikes to be rugged and durable, yet surprisingly that’s not where the weight of a bike is.

The weight of the bike comes when we started considering one of the most overlooked area of the current crops of ebike, Ride and Handling.  the size of the tires and whether the bike has any suspension make for a big difference.

Our bikes weights a bit more than other ebike basically because of 3 important distinctions we made to improved Ride and Handling.

.

1       Fat tires:     The wheels and tires alone weight about 10lb each.  Much more than road bikes or mountain bikes.

2       Full suspension front and rear:       Which is great for road hugging and ride quality but add weights, both to the frame and with the suspensions.

3       Power train:        We use a 500w/1000w rear hub or 1000w mid-drive motor for our bikes. More power gives you more control, meaning you don’t have to wait for the motor to catch up to your throttle, that you know your bike is gonna go when you want it to.

Add in the fact that we also have bigger batteries for longer range.

Incidentally our motors are more powerful than most production offerings on the market

Our bikes weight around 70lb with the 10AH battery.

We are confident that the gain in Ride and Handling and power on demand is well worth the added weight.  Considering a rider that weights 180lb, the difference of 8-10lbs in the total weight of the bike/rider combo, 240 vs 250lb is not that significant.

This is totally borne out when you ride a MOAR bike, you’ll notice how light and responsive our bike is and how quick the motor is.  We haven’t noticed the weight of the bike at all after riding hundred of miles on our prototypes.  In fact we think the little bit of added weight actually adds to the stability of the bike at higher speed on the road, which is how you’ll most likely end up riding your bike at, top speed.

How much does the battery weigh?

The batteries weight from 7lb to 9lbs.

How do you charge the battery and how long does it take?

There are 2 chargers, the standard 2A charger and a 5A Quick Charger.  The battery charges in about 4-9 hrs depending on its capacity and the charge you use.  Just divide the capacity of your battery by the charging current to get the accurate charging time.

You can charge your battery while it’s on the bike or take it out and charge it at home or in your office.

Will the charger work with 120V and 220V outlets around the world?

The charger is designed for dual 120-240V voltage, you might need a plug converter but it works anywhere you go.

Is there a water bottle mount?

Yes.

Can you remove the wheels if you need to put it in a car?

You are asking the right question because all our bikes fold into half for easy transportation and storage.  To make things even a little easier we added a quick release on the front wheel for Sun&Fun and 24/7, which are rear hub driven, and through axle quick releases for both wheels on the Rapt 2.

How does the folding work?

It’s very simple, first you lift a safety thumb catch and then you release the rugged locking latch.  You walk backwards pulling the latch with you and the bike folds smoothly into half.  It’s best if you leave the kickstand down when you do this because of the weight shift.

Why does your bike fold to the right rather than to the left like everything else on the market?

You are very perceptive, and again we are the only one on the market to do this.  Not just to be unconventional, but we went through lots of field testing to come to this one.

Your rear derailleur is located on your bike’s right hand side, when you fold your bike to the left, like everyone else do, it’s exposed, every time you put your bike into a trunk, something presses up against that derailleur when your bike is folded up, the chain comes off.  Try it with our bike.  It’s well protected behind that front wheel when the bike is folded.  It shows that we use our bikes and we sweat the details.

LEGAL

Will this comply with the laws in Europe/Australia?

This bike qualifies as an ebike without requiring a driver’s license in the US. Except for states that limit the motor to less than 750w.

The Sun&Fun comes standard with a 250w motor and speed limited to 25kmh motor assisted top-speed as required by EU countries and Australia.

Please check your local law and regulations.

What’s the top speed of the Bike?

Our bikes with 1000w motor can easily hit over 30mph on the battery power alone. But due to US laws we place a speed limiter above 20mph.  The The speed limit can be adjusted on the digital LCD display in 20 sec by yourself if you don’t plan to use it on legal roads.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

Biking is a potentially hazardous activity.  We strongly suggest wearing a helmet at all time for your safety.
